FamilyTree
FamilyTree started out as an exercise in fancy relational database design back in 1997 when I was still working with FileMaker Pro, recently turned relational. Once the model was working I input my most immediate family.
In 2002 I discovered a cousin in Australia whose father's hobby was genealogy. Hans Susskind emigrated to South Africa in the 1930s and he made a record of the German branch of the family which his son, Martin, updated. The FileMaker Pro database was updated with those relatives.
This week my cousin in Caracas told me some other cousins were now interested in tracing the family which led me to update the FamilyTree to this LAMP web-app version.
I'm still working out how to open the editing of the FamilyTree to the whole family while ensuring the integrity of the data. I have to add some sort of long term "Undo", something like Apple's Time Machine.
